Overview: Il 12 febbraio 2015 è iniziato a Roma uno storico processo per i crimini di lesa umanità subiti da 42 persone (tra cui 22 di origine italiana) sequestrate, torturate, uccise e scomparse nell'ambito del Piano Condor. Questo accordo inizialmente segreto e poi siglato “ufficialmente” 40 anni fa, il 25 novembre 1975, tra le polizie di sette Paesi del Sud America – Argentina, Bolivia, Brasile, Cile, Paraguay, Perù, Uruguay - è stato realizzato tra gli anni Settanta e Ottanta fuori da qualsiasi alveo costituzionale per reprimere l'opposizione, facendo scomparire una intera generazione di cittadini impegnati nella difesa dei diritti umani e della democrazia. Tra le parti civili del processo ci sono quattro quarantenni: furono rubati appena nati alle loro madri internate nei centri di tortura del 'Condor', e affidati a famiglie contigue ai regimi per essere educati secondo valori «occidentali e cristiani». La loro storia, insieme a quella dei 42 giovani desaparecidos, è ricostruita in “Figli rubati. L'Italia, la Chiesa e i desaparecidos”, il nuovo libro-inchiesta firmato dal giornalista Federico Tulli per L'Asino d'oro edizioni.L'indagine dell'autore parte da Milano. Qui vivono i parenti di una ragazza scomparsa nel 1977, e ritrovata in maniera rocambolesca nel 2014, i cui nonni dopo aver saputo della sua nascita avvenuta in uno dei lager di Buenos Aires si rivolsero senza successo anche a Jorge Mario Bergoglio allora capo dei gesuiti argentini. Il legame tra i sopravvissuti al Condor e il nostro Paese è fortissimo e ancora attuale. Lo evidenziò per primo il presidente della Repubblica Sandro Pertini nel messaggio di fine anno nel 1982 quando denunciò il furto di neonati in America Latina anche da parte di famiglie italiane partite appositamente dal nostro Paese. Una denuncia choc rimasta incredibilmente inascoltata fino a oggi. Tuttavia c'è chi non si è mai arreso all'inerzia delle istituzioni preposte a indagare. Secondo Estela Carlotto, presidente delle Abuelas di Plaza de Mayo, che dopo 36 anni di ricerche ha ritrovato in Argentina il nipote Guido, almeno 70 “figli rubati” vivono in Italia senza conoscere la propria storia e non si riesce a trovarli. Perché, come ricostruisce Tulli, le ali del Condor sono ancora aperte.Nella prefazione l'avvocato paraguayano Martin Almada, Premio Nobel alternativo per la Pace 2002, racconta come ha scoperto nel 1992 ad Asuncion gli Archivi del terrore. Queste carte, circa 700mila documenti ammassati in una anonima caserma di polizia, negli anni hanno consentito a numerosi tribunali di ricostruire parte della storia del Piano Condor e di individuare responsabili dei crimini. Grazie agli Archivi, il giudice spagnolo Baltazar Garzon riuscì a incriminare il dittatore cileno Augusto Pinochet, uno dei registi del Piano, e più di recente il pm Giancarlo Capaldo ha potuto istruire il processo in corso a Roma nell'Aula bunker di Rebibbia. Ma la via verso la “Verità e la Giustizia”, invocate dai sopravvissuti e dai familiari dei desaparecidos, è ancora lunga e tortuosa. Il 30 settembre 2015, Almada, al termine dell'Udienza generale in Vaticano, ha chiesto di persona a papa Francesco che la Santa Sede apra i propri archivi declassificando i documenti segreti riferiti al Paraguay, all’Argentina, al Cile, alla Bolivia, al Brasile e all’Uruguay. Una richiesta simile, per quanto riguarda gli archivi italiani, è stata inoltrata al presidente del Senato, Pietro Grasso.Il ruolo, spesso ambiguo, della Chiesa cattolica in queste tragiche vicende è poi ulteriormente evidenziato nella postfazione di Simona Maggiorelli: un'inchiesta sulla storia dei 300mila bambini rubati alle donne “sovversive” nella Spagna franchista, e nei 20 anni successivi alla morte del dittatore fascista avvenuta nel 1975, con la complicità di cliniche gestite da congreghe religiose. È qui che affondano le radici ideologiche dei furti di neonati perpetrati in America Latina dai fautori del Condor.
