Kirjeldatakse energia- ja ainevahetust, makro- ja mikrotoitainete rolle ning treeningu mõju toitainetevajadusele.II osa kolm peatükki käsitlevad energiat andvaid makrotoitaineid, nende mõju tervisele ning tervist ja aktiivset eluviisi toetavaid toitumisnõuandeid.III osas selgitatakse lugejale tervise ja sooritusvõimega seotud mikrotoitainete tähtsust. Vitamiinide ja mineraalainete peatükid hõlmavad populatsioonipõhiseid tarbimissoovitusi, liigse või puuduliku tarbimise tagajärgi ning nende kasutamist toidulisanditena. Raamatu selles osas käsitletakse ka vett ja elektrolüüte. Kirjeldatakse vee tähtsust tervise ja sooritusvõime kontekstis ning antakse nõuandeid vee ja elektrolüütide kohta. Toidu lisandite ja muude spordis kasutatavate ainete peatükis käsitletakse nendega seotud riske ning selgitatakse rea populaarsete toidulisandite ja alkoholi mõju sooritusvõimele.IV osas jagatakse teavet toitumisalaste teadmiste rakendamisest tervishoius ja liikumisharrastuse valdkonnas. Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. Enjoyable weekend read.
