Overview: Türkiye ekonomisi 20. Yüzyılın son çeyreğinde hızlı bir dışa açılma süreci yaşamış ve uluslararası piyasalarla bütünleşmiştir. Bu bütünleşme hem mal ve hizmet hem de finans piyasasında gerçekleşmiş ve sancılı olmuştur. Türkiye ekonomisi 1994 ve 2001 gibi iki önemli kriz yanında pek çok daha küçük ölçekli kriz yaşamıştır. Yaşanan tüm krizlerin tetikleyicisinin dış ticaret dengesizliği olduğunu söylemek abartı olmaz. Türkiye bugün de dünyada yaşanan krizden etkilenme sürecine girmiştir. Türkiye'de cari açık özellikle 2004 yılından itibaren rekordan rekora koşmaktadır. 2004-2007 yılları arasındaki ortalama cari açık 1984-2003 yılları arasındaki ortalama cari açığın 16 katından fazladır. Böylesine büyük bir hızla büyüyen cari açık doğal olarak ciddi kaygılar yaratmış, bu açığın kriz döneminde sürdürülebilirliği kalmamıştır. Türkiye'deki cari açığın asıl belirleyicisinin dış ticaret dengesindeki bozulma olduğu bilinmektedir. Özellikle 2001 yılından itibaren hem ihracatta hem de ithalatta çok belirgin bir artış trendi gözlenmekle birlikte ithalattaki artış ihracattaki artışı büyük bir oranda aştığı için hem dış ticaret dengesinde hem de cari açıkta ciddi bir kötüleşme gözlenmiştir. Cari açığın finansmanında bugüne kadar dış borçlanma, portföy ve daha çok özelleştirme gelirleriyle desteklenen doğrudan yatırımlar kullanılmıştır. Türkiye küresel likidite bolluğu nedeniyle uzun süren şanslı bir dönemden geçmiş ve dış borç ve sermaye akışına dayalı yüksek bir büyüme oranı yakalamıştır. Bu büyüme oranları iyimserliği artırmış ve risk faktörünün küçümsenmesine neden olmuştur. Küresel para hareketleriyle beslenen iyimserliğin, bir ülkenin gelişimini bir süre için sürdürmesine yardımcı olması doğal iken, bu iyimserliğin azalması tam tersine bir gelişmeyi doğurmaktadır. Bugün Türkiye'nin toplam dış borcundaki kaygı verici artış küresel likiditedeki daralma nedeniyle hızla çevrilemez hale gelmektedir. Dış kaynaklar ve cari açıkla beslenen ekonomik büyümenin, kriz döneminde daralan cari açık ile küçüleceği görülmektedir. Glad someone recommended this to me. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

Finished it in a couple of days. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. A solid 5/5 for me.
