Overview: She was India’s first international superstar in the 1930s and 1940s. Astonishingly beautiful, prodigiously talented, and a great-grand-niece of Rabindranath Tagore, Devika Rani earned rave reviews for her first film, Karma. Shortly afterwards, she married Himansu Rai, and together, they set up India’s first truly professional studio, Bombay Talkies. Not bad, but not my favorite. The writing was fine, but I didn't feel very connected to the characters. They felt a bit flat. A generous 3 stars.

I have mixed feelings about this one. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. It's fine if you have nothing else to read.

Finished it in a couple of days. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. A solid 5/5 for me.

Finished it in a couple of days. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. A solid 5/5 for me.

Finished it in a couple of days. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Will be looking for more from this author.
