Este libro no proporciona ningún método de entrenamiento mágico ni revolucionario, sino que trata de analizar las necesidades deportivas desde el punto de vista de las ciencias del ejercicio para enseñar al lector a desarrollar un entrenamiento basado en la evidencia, y no en la videncia.La primera parte de este libro busca conseguir que el lector entienda qué es el entrenamiento y cómo el funcionamiento fisiológico y biomecánico del cuerpo determinan los métodos de entrenamiento. La segunda parte analiza y propone cómo mejorar todas y cada una de las necesidades específicas (fuerza de dedos, resistencia de la musculatura del antebrazo…) y generales (condición física básica, fuerza de tracción, de propulsión, entrenamiento de fuerza para prevención de lesiones…) para los diferentes requerimientos y modalidades de la escalada. Y la tercera y última parte, una vez comprendidas todas y cada una de las piezas del puzle, busca proponer la mejor forma de unirlas, de integrarlas, ajustando el volumen de entrenamiento y su intensidad, reduciendo al nivel óptimo el entrenamiento cuando es necesario para producir una supercompensación, para conseguir la imagen final: una mejora del rendimiento, un aumento del nivel de escalada, el ansiado encadene, la consecución de esa vía que tanto querías escalar.Si su autor pudiera resumir el contenido de este libro en una frase sería la que es su filosofía de entrenamiento: «Más no es mejor; mejor es mejor».
