Overview: Elinizde olan eser İsmail Hakkı İzmirli'nin “Fenni Menahic” “Metodoloji” adlı eseridir. Eser 1329/1911 tarihinde yaklaşık olarak yüz yıl önce II. Meşrutiyet döneminde Osmanlı alfabesi ile basılmıştır. Metodoloji kendi alanında Osmanlı Devletinde ve Türkiye'de yazılmış ilk eserdir. Bu yüzden hem tarihsel hem de bilimsel değeri vardır. İsmail Hakkı İzmirli “Muhassal” adlı eserinde dini bilimlerde ve özellikle kelamda kullanılan Aristo mantığı ve skolastik savunma metodu olan münazara yerine yeni felsefenin teorilerini ve yeni bilimlerin metotlarını kullanmayı önermektedir. Yeni felsefenin teorilerini tanıtmak için “Metafizik” adlı eserini, yeni bilimlerin metotlarını tanıtmak için de “Metodoloji”adlı eserini yazmıştır. İzmirli “Metodoloji” adlı eserini Batı metodolojisini tanıtmak için yazmıştır. Ancak bu eseri yazarken aynı zamanda klasik bakış açısını da korumuştur. Eserinde metodu anlattıktan sonra doğa bilimleri, matematik bilimleri, sosyal bilimler ve moral bilimlerin metotlarını anlattıktan sonra bilgi konusuna geri dönmüştür. Burada yakin,zan, şek, cehli mürekkep ve mugalata gibi klasik İslami bilgi teorisine ait kavramları da anlatmıştır. Böylece modern metodolojiyi anlatırken onu aynı zamanda klasik düşüncelerle birleştirmiştir.

It was okay. The writing was fine, but I didn't feel very connected to the characters. They felt a bit flat. It's fine if you have nothing else to read.
