Overview: Thatch Elliott is adopted off a mercy train and makes a success of his life. Fifteen years later, he adopts two others off a mercy train and tries to build a life for them. He marries a mail-order bride from Boston and buys a ranch in Taos Valley. But a larger rancher, Fred Sugg, attempts to kill Thatch, then has his wife, Martha, kidnapped. A very satisfying read. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. A solid 5/5 for me.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Would probably read it again at some point.

Pretty good overall. It held my attention, even if a few things were a little predictable. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.
