Overview: A magyar nyelv jelene és jövője című kötet tudományos kutatásokon alapuló, autentikus szintézist ad a magyar nyelv és a magyar nyelvközösség ezredfordulós helyzetéről, az elmúlt 30-40 év tényeire és történeti folyamataira összpontosítva. A helyzetleírás, az önalkotó reflexió egyik fő tényezője a korábbi és jelen idejű folyamatok feltárása, a tapasztalati tér kifejtő jellemzése. A másik fő tényező a jövőbe tekintés, a jövőre vonatkozó elvárások, várakozások rendszere. Egy közösség nem pusztán létezik, hanem orientálódik saját jövője felé, cselekvései és a környezete hatásaira adott válaszai valamely mértékben megszabják a jövőbeli alakulások irányait. A bemutatásban a tág értelemben vett nyelvtudomány mellett fontos szerepet játszik az antropológia, a történettudomány, a művelődéstörténet, a kultúra-, népesség- és jogtudomány, metaszinten a hermeneutika, a történeti szemantika. A harmonizálás alapja az a belátás, hogy a nyelv nem puszta eszköz, hanem a közös jelentésképzésnek, az ezen alapuló megértésnek, vele együtt a megismerésnek, továbbá a közösséget létrehozó és összetartó kommunikációnak és az ezekkel kapcsolatos szimbolikus értékeknek a közege, az emberi leképezés és cselekvés tartománya. Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
