Overview: Huyendo, como es habitual en el autor, de propuestas que se acaben en la mera especulación de ideas, Rico ha elaborado un manual práctico sobre museografía, con tres peculiaridades: cada tema se acompaña de una serie de problemas prácticos a resolver; la integración de la museografía dentro de las técnicas expositivas; y los programas docentes de todo este nuevo entramado de conceptos, materias y profesionales. El libro se presenta en cuatro partes dedicadas las tres primeras a las seis “técnicas expositivas” de manera monográfica y una cuarta final pensada para la interrelación de todas ellas y a su enseñanza. La primera parte: “Cultura y razón los primeros siglos”, trata fundamentalmente de la exposición cultural, la científica y la técnica, lo que hemos llamado tradicionalmente como museología y museografía. La segunda parte: “De la industria al consumo, el fin del monopolio cultural”, se centra en el interesante tema de la exposición industrial y la comercial, trabajando las características expositivas desde los primeros mercados a las actuales grandes superficies. La tercera parte: “Límites y lenguajes, los nuevos caminos” desarrolla los proyectos de exposición en el paisaje (ciudad y naturaleza) y en el lenguaje virtual, algo que no hemos valorado todavía con la importancia que tiene. La cuarta parte: “Las técnicas expositivas”, resume en conceptos y diagramas, la relación entre las seis “técnicas expositivas”, lo que deberíamos conocer de las otras, lo que podríamos aprovechar en la nuestra, como hemos de trabajar, etc. Todo ello acompañado de una revisión final de los nuevos programas docentes especializados en el tema, en el que se incluye este nuevo concepto global.

An average read for me. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. Probably won't read it again, but it was an okay way to pass the time.
