Overview: What would you do if you saw a terrifying vision of a near future event? In this novella-length prequel to the Near Future Series, young Julie Randolph has just started to have psychic visions and she sees a horrific plane crash. She knows her parents will be on that plane. Can she reach them in time? Much is happening behind the scenes to lead to that critical moment. Who or what is orchestrating those events and what does it mean for Julie’s future? This book takes you into the origin of the Near Future Series, but it does more than that. It lays the foundation for the next book, Alternate (Forthcoming), the book that examines the alternate future that results from that pivotal event. But that’s not all. We get hints of the connection between this, the Near Future Series, and the new Far Future Series. In the first book of the Far Future Series, Defenders of the Rim: Beginnings we learned of galactic empires, rebels and aliens - and a special young team that has to defend the galaxy from a dangerous enemy. More books are coming; Defenders of the Rim: Badlands (Forthcoming) is already in the works - Our young heroes must do their part to save the galaxy from an even more terrible danger. Can they pull off the impossible a second time? Later, I’ll be doing more to tie the two series together, but you’ll have to be patient before you can discover all. It’s my hope that the mystery will only make it more fun.

Pretty good overall. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. A solid 4 stars from me.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Glad I picked this up.
