Overview: Why do we know very little about the history of Muslims in the Philippines? This question is an urgent appeal for understanding in the face of the seemingly insoluble Mindanao problem. Policymakers and politicians reflect our ignorance about our country’s Muslim history. During election campaigns, candidates aspiring for national positions court voters with promises of economic solutions for Mindanao. Not only are these promises unfulfilled, but they miss the nonmaterial reasons at the root of the continued animosity between Muslims and Christians. The marginalization of Moro identity, in addition, and the disregard for the Moros’ historic agency have since fostered prejudices and biases that alienate Mindanao’s Muslims from the rest of the country.

Pretty good overall. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

Really enjoyed this one. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Would probably read it again at some point.

A very satisfying read. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Worth the time and money.

Finished it in a couple of days. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. A solid 5/5 for me.
