The Reader's Companion for the Five Day Bible Reading Schedule helps you do just that. Following the popular Five Day Bible Reading Schedule the Companion offers introductions to each book of the Bible as it appears on the schedule, and key comments on the text that will help you understand difficult verses, puzzling passages, and the overall flow and impact of the current reading. Reading the New Testament portion of the Companion you will find application at the close of each week's readings. The Old Testament part of the Companion helps harmonize the history of Israel, especially with prophets and kings. Over 140 pages (in print) each day’s material is short and to the point. The Companion provides just the right amount of practical, key information that you can quickly access during your daily devotional and reading time so your daily Bible reading can become daily Bible study. Key notes: * Every chapter of the Bible is treated except for the books of Psalms and Proverbs. * This is not an in-depth commentary (that would take too long to read each day), nor does it delve into deeper issues like original language questions. * Written from the perspective of a believer in the Bible as the literal, inspired, inerrant and authoritative living Word of God. About the author: for over 30 years Mark Roberts has preached for churches of Christ in Texas. Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. I liked the main character, though some of the side plots were just okay. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

Really enjoyed this one. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
