Overview: Kratka povijest komunizma za nekomuniste je vrlo rijetka i vrlo dragocjena pojava. U njoj gotovo da i nema novih i nepoznatih činjenica, ali nema ni ideološkog premaza koji je činjenicama davao samo jedno jedino značenje, ono koje je potvrđivalo i ovjeravalo komunizam kao jedini prihvatljivi model organizacije društva. U njoj se, dakle, odbacuje i kultura laganja, koja je bujala iz laboratorija komunističkih centara za agitaciju i propagandu, agitpropova.Malo je u novijoj povijesti tema o kojima se pisalo s toliko žara i žući, pristranosti, odbojnosti i ljubavi, veličanja i sotoniziranja, strasne mržnje i slijepe odanosti, kao što se pisalo o ideji, ideologiji i praksi komunizma. I pristašama i protivnicima komunizma nije bilo toliko stalo do istine, koliko ih je zanimala afirmacija vlastitih političkih pozicija, programa i ciljeva. Komunisti su prikazivani ili kao anđeli slobode, jednakosti i bratstva ili kao crveni đavoli. Objektivna, stručno i znanstveno zasnovana istraživanja bila su rijetka, osobito u zemljama u kojima je komunizam bio, ili i dalje jest, vladajuća ideologija koju čuvaju bajunete i tajna politička policija.Kao zemlja sa 45-godišnjom komunističkom vlasti, ni Hrvatska nije bila mjesto za slobodan kritički pristup bilo kojoj ideološko-političkoj temi, a posebice ne za kritiku komunističkog poretka i njegovih povijesnih ishodišta. U proteklih 25 godina slobodne Republike Hrvatske mnogo se toga promijenilo nabolje, ali je i previše toga ostalo kako je bilo i u doba komunizma. U pogledu na zbilju, ideologiju i povijest komunizma i dalje se često (ne/svjesno) primjenjuju stari obrasci o tome što je za čovjeka i društvo dobro, a što loše. Najbolji je primjer prevladavajući odnos prema privatnom vlasništvu i slobodnom poduzetništvu: sumnjiči se i ozloglašava i jedno i drugo, kao u „stara dobra vremena“ komiteta za ONO i DSZ.Stoga nećemo pretjerati ako kažemo da je ova nevelika knjiga od 15 tiskarskih araka, Kratka povijest komunizma (za nekomuniste), i vrlo rijetka i vrlo dragocjena pojava. U njoj gotovo da i nema novih i nepoznatih činjenica, ali nema ni ideološkog premaza koji je činjenicama davao samo jedno jedino značenje, ono koje je potvrđivalo i ovjeravalo komunizam kao jedini prihvatljivi model organizacije društva. U njoj se, dakle, odbacuje i kultura laganja, koja je nekad bujala iz laboratorija komunističkih centara za agitaciju i propagandu, agitpropova. Ukratko, ona je od prve do posljednje riječi antikomunistička.Primjerice, u analizi dolaska boljševika na vlast u Rusiji, autor apostrofira i jednu naoko sitnu intervenciju komunista u jezik (jezik je bio omiljeno područje djelovanja svake totalitarne revolucionarne vlasti, pa tako i komunističke): iako su prije dolaska na vlast na svim velikim socijaldemokratskim kongresima boljševici bili manjina, a menjševici većina, komunistički su provoditelji jezičnog inženjeringa manjinu nazvali većinom, tj. boljševicima (boljše = više), a većinu manjinom, tj. menjševicima (menjše = manje)! Mijenjanjem zbilje intervencijama u jeziku naveliko se bavio i jugoslavenski/hrvatski komunistički režim, pa se tako neograničena vlast komunističke partije predstavljala kao narodna demokracija ili socijalističko samoprvaljanje, a revolucionarni teror kao antifašizam.Mrkocijev kratki pregled povijesti komunizma, kako stoji i u njegovu naslovu, namijenjen je nekomunistima. Dakako, autor ne bi imao ništa protiv da ga u ruke uzmu i komunisti (koji se danas tako ne vole nazivati), no unaprijed je svjestan da im se on neće svidjeti – jer oni ne priznaju da komunizam ima bilo kakve tamne sjene – pa ih naslovom upozorava da ga, da se ne bi previše uzrujali, zaobiđu.Autor Vladimir Mrkoci, r. 1924. u Zagrebu, profesor povijesti, kao mladić je (1946.) povjerovao da je nova komunistička vlast demokratska, osnovao Antiboljševički blok (ABB) i završio u Staroj Gradiški. Tada je zasnovao ovu knjigu kojoj je trebalo 70 godina da ugleda svjetlo knjižarskog izloga. Napisao ju je s polemičkom strašću, beskompromisno, držeći se relevantne literature, zdrave logike, činjenica i vlastitog iskustva stečenog u životu pod komunizmom / antifašizmom. U stalnom čudu kako su mnogi pametni i čestiti ljudi, među njima i cijenjeni intelektualci i umjetnici, mogli prihvatiti komunizam i zanemariti da je povijest komunizma samo i jedino povijest zločina, prijetvornosti i moralnog posrnuća.Naslovnicu je kreirao grafičar Mario Jurjević.
