Overview: Sunt multe aspecte ce țin de profunda înțelegere a activații de restaurare precum ilustrarea cu formule chimice ale diverselor cerneluri (pigmenți) sau chiar ale hârtiei. Trebuie punctat că în 1929 apare la Roma Institutul de Patologie a Cărții.Partea a doua este dedicată legătoriei fiind bogat ilustrată și suculent îmbibată în context istoric bine structurat după succesiunea epocilor însoțite de tehnicile corespunzătoare. Vă mai aduceți aminte de cartea cu lanț – liber catenatus? Un fel de rușine a incapacității omului de a respecta proprietatea și mai ales cel mai de preț avut: cunoașterea!?Important și util este și capitolul dedicat morfologiei cărții.Partea a treia cuprinde aspectele ce țin de degradarea cărții și a documentelor. În afară de clasificarea factorilor de degradare (după părerea mea cel mai distructiv fiind omul cu ale sale pure nebunii catalogate politicos prin index epurgatorius librorum sau index librorum prohibitorum sau mai grav exemplele de biblioclastie din istoria veche sau mai recentă). Subiecte precum cernelurile vechi (interesant: pigmenții și cernelurile din metale prețioase «Codex Aureus»), degradarea hârtiei (migrația acidă), pergamentul, degradarea formatelor și montajelor, coligatul, ex-librisul fac punctele de interes ce v-ar putea stimula să deschideți lucrarea. Și pun pariu că nu știați ce este o „ureche de câine”. Interesante sunt documentele ascunse în scoarțe – o dilemă deontologică?Partea a patra este dedicată restaurării propriu-zise. Autorul supune proceselor de restaurare orice mărturie scrisă prin prisma a două realități distincte: cea materială, care se adresează suportului și mediului de înregistrare (cerneluri și pigmenți) și cea virtuală, care se adresează informației sau ansamblului de informații conținute – am zice noi prin gura FRBR-ului: expresie incorporată în manifestare. La restaurarea materială mi s-a părut impresionant numărul de (meta)date care gestionează etapele restaurării – dosarul de restaurare. Dintre temele prezente mi s-au părut foarte interesante dezacidificarea și stabilizarea hârtiei, recuperarea documentelor calamitate (inundație, foc și prăbușire) și restaurarea și fixarea sigiliilor.Partea a cincea și cea finală se referă la organizarea și funcționarea laboratorului de restaurare a cărții și documentelor grafice. Sunt prezentate rând pe rând: cadrul legislativ de funcționare, dimensionare, instalații, mobilier, dispozitivele, mașinile și utilajele, dar cel mai interesant mi s-au părut a fi sculele folosite în restaurare.

I liked it for the most part. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.
