Overview: Anarchiste italien de tendance collectiviste, Berneri arrive en Espagne dès le début de l’insurrection de 1936 et participe activement à la constitution des premières colonnes anarchistes partant en Aragon. Très tôt, il est de ceux qui affirment que seule la lutte anti-capitaliste peut s’opposer au fascisme et que le piège de l’anti-fascisme signifie l’abandon des principes de la révolution sociale. Il ne cesse de répéter que la révolution doit être gagnée sur le terrain social et non sur le terrain militaire. Il s’oppose ainsi à la militarisation des milices qu’il voit comme la première victoire des forces étatiques.Les staliniens ne le lui pardonneront pas. Le 5 mai 1937, à Barcelone, Berneri et Barberi, l’un de ses compagnons, sont arrêtés chez eux par des policiers armés au motif qu’ils seraient des « contre-révolutionnaires ». C’est au cours de ces journées que des unités sous commandement du parti communiste tentèrent d’écraser le mouvement social et éliminèrent de nombreux militants anarchistes et du P. O. U. M.Les articles publiés par Berneri et ses camarades dans leur revue, Guerre de classe, apportent un regard lucide et critique sur le cours de la révolution espagnole, et les orientations prises par la direction de la C. Glad someone recommended this to me. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Glad I picked this up.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Some parts were interesting, while others were a bit of a slog to get through. It's fine if you have nothing else to read.

I liked it for the most part. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. Not bad at all.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Worth the time and money.
