Ha cominciato a lavorare come architetto prima, come insegnante poi. Per oltre vent'anni è stato scrittore e giornalista free-lance. Gran parte delle sue ricerche si occupano dei modi "non ufficiali" con cui la gente usa l'ambiente urbano e rurale, rimodellandolo secondo i propri bisogni. Ha così scritto una ventina di libri su temi sociologici e urbanistici come il vandalismo e gli orti urbani, l'occupazione di case e l'autocostruzione. Si è inoltre occupato della condizione dei bambini in situazioni urbane e rurali e ha anche scritto alcuni pamphlet destinati a loro e pubblicati dalla Penguin: Violence, Work, Utopia. Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. Not bad at all.

It was okay. The writing was fine, but I didn't feel very connected to the characters. They felt a bit flat. It's fine if you have nothing else to read.
