provides a concise analysis of India's economic history from the Moghul invasions to the colonialism of the twentieth century. Although much has been written on the subject, this study is the first to present India's economic history as a process. For this edition, the chapters covering the "Green Revolution" and the industrial recession, and population growth and economic development have been completely rewritten to bring the book up to date. Dietmar Rothermund places the development of agriculture and industry into their political contexts and discusses currency and monetary policies, which are of central importance in all periods of Indian history.

After spending years working in the corporate world, Dietmar Rothermund finally decided to pursue a lifelong passion for writing. They currently reside in a quiet suburb where they spend most of their time outlining new stories, reading extensively, and occasionally attempting to bake.

I liked it for the most part. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. A solid 4 stars from me.

An average read for me. It had some good moments, but the overall plot felt a bit disjointed in the second half. It's fine if you have nothing else to read.
