Overview: Although Born and Huang's classic work on the dynamics of crystal lattices was published over thirty years ago, the book remains the definitive treatment of the subject. It begins with a brief introduction to atomic forces, lattice vibrations and elasticity, and then breaks off into four sections. The first section deals with the general statistical mechanics of ideal lattices, leading to the electric polarizability and to the scattering of light. Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

I was pleasantly surprised. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Would probably read it again at some point.

Really enjoyed this one. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. A solid 5/5 for me.
