Overview: Volume 3 of the MIKE Sports Comic Book Series focuses on my all-time NBA Favorites. In this book, no active NBA players are featured. I will cover stars like LeBron, Kobe, CP3, etc. in future books. For now, my focus is on iconic NBA players who once dominated on and above the hardwood. In addition to seven retired players in NBA Favorites, I spotlight one unique and unstoppable shot. I also focus on two teams – one famous and the other infamous. Nine of my ten selections positively impacted basketball for their actions on the court. One of my picks embarrassed themselves and the NBA for its reckless behavior while away from the hardwood. The team’s boorish behavior is still talked about many years later. All on my list are worthy of being recognized by their nicknames and are complemented by a unique and individual sports comic. The basketball comics cleverly capture the nickname of the player, team or move. You’ll immediately see why the Dr. J comic is my favorite and the Karl Malone Mailman comic comes in a close second. Inventive depictions of the Dream Shake, Microwave, Rash and Showtime LA Lakers will bring back championship memories to all NBA fans. And, no NBA book would be complete without paying homage to His Airness Michael Jordan. In addition to the comics, I include a bit of basketball history in each chapter and explain why each selection marks a slam dunk for NBA Favorites.
