Overview: Memoir in cartoons by the longtime cartoon editor of The New YorkerPeople tell Bob Mankoff that as the cartoon editor of The New Yorker he has the best job in the world. Never one to beat around the bush, he explains to us, in the opening of this singular, delightfully eccentric book, that because he is also a cartoonist at the magazine he actually has two of the best jobs in the world. With the help of myriad images and his funniest, most beloved cartoons, he traces his love of the craft all the way back to his childhood, when he started doing funny drawings at the age of eight. I have mixed feelings about this one. Some parts were interesting, while others were a bit of a slog to get through. Just right down the middle.

A very satisfying read. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. A solid 5/5 for me.

Glad someone recommended this to me. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

I have mixed feelings about this one. It had some good moments, but the overall plot felt a bit disjointed in the second half. It's fine if you have nothing else to read.

I was pleasantly surprised. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. Will be looking for more from this author.
