A ideologia alemã é considerada por muitos estudiosos a obra de filosofia mais importante de Marx e Engels. A crítica – quase toda em tom sarcástico – dos dois filósofos ridiculariza o idealismo alemão e articula as categorias essenciais da dialética marxista (como trabalho, modo de produção, forças produtivas, alienação, consciência), constituindo assim um novo corpo teórico. A tradução dos capítulos I e II, respectivamente dedicados à polêmica com Feuerbach e Bruno Bauer, baseia-se na edição da Mega-2 (Marx-Engels Gesamtausgabe), texto que foi antecipado no Marx-Engels Jahrbuch. Nessa nova edição, os manuscritos de Marx e Engels aparecem em sete seções, ordenadas cronologicamente, e são reproduzidos tal como foram deixados pelos autores. A nova organização do volume revoluciona a forma como até então A ideologia alemã foi lida e interpretada, principalmente no que diz respeito a seu primeiro capítulo, que Marx e Engels deixaram inacabado. Fora da Alemanha, é a primeira vez que as sete partes do manuscrito de Marx e Engels sobre Feuerbach são apresentadas ao leitor como textos independentes, em sua fragmentação originária, sem sofrer as montagens mais ou menos arbitrárias que os diversos editores (desde a edição de Riazanov, em 1926) imputaram à obra. Esse tratamento editorial esmerado levou à descoberta de que Marx e Engels, até o fim de 1845, não haviam concebido o plano de escrever A ideologia alemã, pelo menos não com esse título. Finished it in a couple of days. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
