Overview: República literaria y revolución: 1920-1939 quiere ser un ensayo de interpretación de un proceso cultural que trata de reconstruir el hilo rojo de la literatura española durante los años veinte y treinta. Un hilo rojo que tuvo a la intelectualidad comunista como vanguardia que trató de hacer compatibles literatura y política. Pero una vanguardia que comprendía no sólo a los intelectuales militantes sino también a los «compañeros de viaje», que colaboraron juntos, en oposición al fascismo ascendente, en la construcción del Frente Popular de la cultura española. Libros, editoriales, periódicos y revistas alimentaron a un público formado mayoritariamente por lectores de la burguesía y pequeña burguesía republicana, liberal y progresista, pero también por una minoría de la clase obrera (anarquistas, comunistas, socialistas, trotskistas), por una vanguardia política que sentía hambre y sed de cultura y de literatura revolucionarias. Such a great read. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Would probably read it again at some point.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. A solid 5/5 for me.

Really enjoyed this one. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Worth the time and money.

A solid read. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. Not bad at all.
