Overview: In the aftermath of a critical World War II battle, Father Gaetano is assigned as the sole priest at the Church of San Domenico in the small seaside Sicilian village of Tringale. The previous pastor has died and there is a shortage of clergy at the moment, so until another can be spared, the young priest must say all of the masses himself.Mass is not Father Gaetano’s only responsibility, however. Such a great read. I loved how the story unfolded. It kept me guessing without being too confusing. A solid 5/5 for me.

Glad someone recommended this to me. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Would probably read it again at some point.

Good, but not quite perfect. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. Enjoyable weekend read.

Pretty good overall. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.
