Overview: The Persian poet Hafez (1320-1389) is best known as a Sufi mystic who incorporated elements of Sufism into his verses. The state of God-Realisation is symbolised through union with a Beloved, and drinking the wine of spiritual love.This edition of the Divan is a facsimile illuminated manuscript and features Persian miniature paintings by the world-famous artist Mahmoud Farshchian with calligraphy from Ostad Abbas Akheveyn. There are 43 ghazals, translated into English by classical scholar Gertrude Bell. It is a truly beautiful introduction not only to the works of this beloved Sufi mystic, but also to the artistry of Mahmoud Farshchian. It is like getting two books in one: poetry and art.

Finished it in a couple of days. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. A solid 5/5 for me.

I was pleasantly surprised. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Glad I picked this up.

Such a great read. I loved how the story unfolded. It kept me guessing without being too confusing. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

I liked it for the most part. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. Not bad at all.
