Overview: জাহানারা ইমাম জন্ম : ৩ মে ১৯২৯ সুন্দরপুর, মুর্শিদাবাদ। ব্যক্তিত্বময়ী জাহানারা ইমাম দীর্ঘ সময় স্কুলকলেজ-বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে শিক্ষকতা করেছেন। একজন সংস্কৃতিক কর্মী হিসেবে বিভিন্ন সংগঠনের মধ্য দিয়ে মানুষের মনোজগতে তিনি পৌছে দিয়েছিলেন তার অধীত জ্ঞান সম্ভার। একাত্তরে বাঙালীর স্বাধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠার আন্দোলনের সঙ্গে তিনি একাতােতা ঘোষণা করেন। ১৯৭১ সালে মুক্তিযুদ্ধে চরম মৃত্যু, দুঃস্বপ্নভরা বিভীষিকার মধ্যে জাহানারা ইমামের ত্যাগ ও সতর্ক সক্রিয়তা দেশপ্রেমের সর্বোচ্চ উদাহরণ হয়ে আছে। মুক্তিযুদ্ধের শহীদের বেদনা বিধুর মাতৃহৃদয় এবং ইমামকে কেন্দ্র করে। শহীদ রুমীর মাতা পরিণত হয় শহীদ জননীতে । নব্বই দশকে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের পরাজিত শক্তির উত্থানে জনমনে যে ক্ষোভের সঞ্চার হয় তার পটভূমিতে ১৯৯২-এর. ১৯ জানুয়ারী ‘একাত্তরের ঘাতক দালাল নির্মূল কমিটি’ গঠিত হলে জাহানারা ইমাম এর আহবায়ক নির্বাচিত হন। তিনি মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনা বাস্তবায়ন এবং একাত্তরের ঘাতকদের বিচারের দাবীতে দেশব্যাপী ব্যাপক গণআন্দোলন পরিচালনা করেন। তাঁরই নেতৃত্বে ঐতিহাসিক সোহওয়াদী ময়দানে লাখ লাখ মানুষের উপস্থিতিতে একাত্তরের ঘাতকদের বিরুদ্ধে পরিচালিত হয়। গণআদালত । সাহিত্যকৃতির জন্য ১৯৯০ সালে তিনি বাঙলা একাডেমী পুরস্কার পান। গ্রন্থসমূহ : গজ কচ্ছপ, সাতটি তারার ঝিকিমিকি, নিঃসঙ্গ পাইন, ক্যান্সারের সঙ্গে বসবাস, প্রবাসের দিনগুলি, অন্য জীবন ইত্যাদি। মৃত্যু : ২৬ জুন ১৯৯৪
